The Dominican Republic is served by two main international airports:
• Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ): The country’s primary airport, located approximately 16 km from the conference hotel.
• Las Américas International Airport (SDQ): Serving the capital city, located approximately 180 km from the conference hotel.
Conference participants are strongly encouraged to travel through Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), as it offers a greater number of flights and more convenient transportation options to the conference venue. Several ground transportation options are available for travel from the airport to the conference hotel. Many of these also provide access to other destinations in the Punta Cana area.
 

Ground Transportation Options

Rental Cars

Car rentals provide flexibility for participants wishing to explore Punta Cana independently. Major international agencies, including Hertz and Avis, operate directly from PUJ Airport. Participants are advised to:
• Confirm insurance requirements in advance, as additional coverage may already be provided by credit card agreements.
• Document the vehicle’s condition prior to departure.
• Exercise caution when driving locally, as road conditions and motorcycle traffic can be challenging.
 

Airport Transfers

Shared shuttle services provide a reliable and cost-efficient option for transfers between the airport and the conference hotel. If you choose this option, Once you leave the secure area of the airport, look for signs with the name of your shuttle service. We reached an agreement with the transfer services of OtiumTour. When making your reservation, please make sure that you select the PUJ airport as pick-up, select Melia Caribe Beach Resort as drop-off, include your flight number, estimated arrival time, and number of guests. Shared rides start at USD 10 per way. Private transfers are also available. Some of these companies may offer drinks during the ride; please note that these are typically not complimentary.
 

Taxis and Ride-Sharing Services

Taxis and Ubers are also available at Punta Cana Airport. However, once you exit the secure area, you will likely encounter many individuals offering unofficial transportation services. For your convenience, please disregard these offers and use only official taxis or ride-sharing services.
• Taxis: Widely available and convenient, though relatively expensive. As taxi meters are not used, fares should be agreed upon before departure. Airport transfers typically follow pre-established rates; participants are advised to confirm the current fare to the Meliá Caribe Beach Resort Hotel.
• Ride-Sharing (Uber): An increasingly available and cost-effective alternative. Fares are confirmed at the time of booking and may vary between 15 to 30 USD; however, vehicle availability may be limited, resulting in longer waiting times.
